Prof. AZENABOR G.E
Azenabor Godwin is a professor of philosophy (2008), with specialization in African Philosophy. He has his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and graduated with a B.A (Hons), from the University of Lagos in 1983; Masters of Arts (M.A) in philosophy, 1985; Masters of Philosophy, (M.Phil) 1988, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in African Philosophy (1998) all form the same University.
His academic career started in 1994, accumulating over 30 years of university teaching and research experience. He has supervised and mentored over 400 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has over 60 publications in books, monographs chapters in books and articles in learned and well cited journals as evidenced in Google Scholar, (086613) indexed author, scholar and personality, in International African Bibliography (2178).
Research Interests: His research interest and competence transverse African Philosophy, Ethics, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Education, Philosophical Psychology, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Religion and Existentialism. His publications cut across the four corners of the globe, namely; Africa, Asia, Europe and America.
Some of his books include: Understanding the Problem of African Philosophy (1998 and 2002), The sustainability of University Education in Nigeria (2005), Corruption in Nigeria: Perspective and Strategies for Effective Control (2007), Philosophical Psychology (2008), Modern Theories in African Philosophy (2010) and Introduction to Philosophy; A Compendium (2023), co-authored with Chidozie Okoro.
Professional Associations: He has also achieved memebership of professional and academic associations, like Nigerian Philosophical Association (1994), Nigerian Academy of Letters (2017), Research Board of Advisers, American Bibliographical Institute, (2004) and American Philosophical Society (2022).
He has held various Administrative and Leadership Positions ,Hall Master, Postgraduate Hall, (2010), Hall Master, Shodeinde Hall (2011), Chairman, Social Science Examination malpractices Panel, (2011-2015), Director Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) (2012-2016), Head, Department of Philosophy, (2016-2019).
He has served as member and chairman of NUC Resources Verification Team, 2017-2022.
He was a visiting scholar to University of Benin 2006/2007 and the University of Ghana, 2021/22 academic session.
He has won awards; University of Lagos Best Researcher Award in Arts and Humanities, (2007), Fellow, Strategic Institute for National Resources and Human Development (FRHD) (2013), Distinguished member, Guild of Awardees BIFOBA (2013).
His contribution to knowledge is especially important in the area of knowledge application of indigenous knowledge and comparative philosophical study.
Professor Azenabor Godwin is married and blessed with children.
